CRITICAL MASS NOLA BOOK CLUB | EVERY THIRD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH | THE HEALING CENTER LIBRARY
We’re currently diving into Bike Lanes Are White Lanes by Melody Hoffmann—a critical look at how bicycle advocacy and urban planning can reinforce gentrification and exclusion, even when they claim to serve the common good.
We invite everyone to get a copy of the book and join us for meaningful discussions about how these dynamics play out in New Orleans. Together, we’ll reflect on the ways bike culture can contribute to gentrification—and, more importantly, how we can build a movement that centers inclusivity, equity, and justice in our streets. For our first meetup on September 17th, we will discuss Chapter 1.
Let’s imagine a cycling community where every rider belongs, and where advocacy truly serves the people and the health of the planet.
We meet at the library on the mezzanine level of the Healing Center, located at 2372 St. Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, at 6:30 p.m.
