It also offers a separate event for those not in a bike club, called the Critical Mass NOLA Contingent. The poster mentions a Prometheus Ball with an arrow pointing right, a logo of a person riding a bike with the text 'Krewe of Prometheus,' and a black fist symbol with the words 'Critical Mass NOLA'.

Make plans to ride in the Krewe of Prometheus bicycle parade!

Gather your bicycle club—or any organization, bike-related or not—and create a theme if you’d like (or don’t!). DM us so we can place you in the lineup.

Not part of a club or organization?
Ride with the Critical Mass Nola contingent. We’ll be sharing our theme soon, and everyone is welcome to ride with us.

Ride alongside King Prometheus I (@o.g.blakeowens) and Queen Prometheus I (@allenelaspina) in the very first bicycle parade in New Orleans!

Following the parade, join us for the Prometheus Ball at the JTLC. This celebratory ball is a fundraiser supporting Critical Mass Nola’s advocacy for a safer, citywide grid of connected bike lanes throughout New Orleans—because building bike culture also means building the infrastructure that makes riding safe and accessible for everyone.

Please note: there will be no Critical Mass ride on the last Friday of the month—this community bike ride will serve as our main Critical Mass ride for January. On the final Friday of January, keep celebrating bike culture by looking out for @krewedevelorevolte in @kreweboheme.

*Critical Mass Nola is a volunteer-led, informal community ride. All participants ride at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.

Krewe of Prometheus: A Bicycle Revolution Rolls into Carnival

Prometheus, the defiant Titan who stole fire from the gods and gifted it to humanity, has long stood as a symbol of rebellion, enlightenment, and the refusal to bow to unjust authority. He was punished not for evil, but for empowering the powerless—an act that echoes across time and myth into the streets of New Orleans.

In that spirit, we present the Krewe of Prometheus, rolling through the French Quarter on January 2026 (Date TBA). Though Critical Mass traditionally rolls on the last Friday of the month (which would be January 30th), in January 2026 we will ride earlier in the month to honor Krewe Bohème and join in their revelry—because true revolution knows when to celebrate.

Just as Prometheus defied the gods, Critical Mass New Orleans challenges the dominance of oil and automobile corporations and the failures of our city’s infrastructure to support safe, equitable streets for cyclists. This parade is a call to action and a celebration of resistance.

We invite all bicycle groups in New Orleans to join us. Represent your bicycle organization with flags, signs, and a unique, bike-related throw—no plastic beads here. Think spoke cards, deblumns, stickers, lapel pins, creative cards with your group’s logo and message, or a bicycle related art piece. If possible, we also encourage individual bicycle organizations to create a bicycle float, drawn of course by a bicycle or tricycle. This would be a good touch, but is by no means a requirement. Let’s show the city that a better future is possible—and it rides on two wheels.

Join the Vélorution. Bring the Fire. Laissez les bons temps rouler.
