The Perils of the St. Claude Bike Lane
Billion-dollar oil, gas, and petrochemical corporations receive massive tax breaks in Louisiana—while they poison our environment and contribute to the expansion of Cancer Alley.
At the same time, the tax dollars of working class people are spent on a $23 million light display for the Crescent City Connection and a temporary $20 million homeless encampment to make the city "presentable" for the millionaire and billionaire class arriving for the Super Bowl.
Public transportation is underfunded and scrutinized, while bike infrastructure is reduced to painted lines beside roads shared with 18-wheelers and speeding traffic. This is not safety—it’s negligence disguised as progress.
Rather than profit, we believe our streets should be planned for people and for the planet. Ride with us this Friday and learn more about our mission and values. Together, we can ride, raise our voices, and organize to make real change. Alone, our power is limited—but as a critical mass, we become a force.
Meet us at the French Market this Friday at 5:40 PM to help paint Michael Milam’s ghost bike. The ride departs at 6:30 PM.
